Dawn stands at 5’5” and, as majority of Dokona citizens do, wears standard clothes when in public. She keeps her hair as long as possible - purely a personal choice! Her ears are like those of a cow or deer, drooping slightly on the sides of her head and often giving away her current emotion.
Amelie
Age: 23
Gender: woman
Pronouns: she/her
Occupation: ???
Personality: low-energy, pessimistic, introverted
Background: Seemingly just a young woman living in the city, keeping mostly to herself and exploring all the simple things life has to offer. A not-so apparent detail is her life as a vampire. Amelie was turned against her will by an ex-lover in the 1950s. Ever since, eternity looms over her like a churning storm. Music and fashion keeps the idea at bay, and collared shirts are always a must for her scarred bite marks. If she never smiles around you and wears her typical fashion, there is a high chance you would never suspect her origins.
Initial mood-boarding for Amelie’s design and backstory done in December of 2025. Her default clothing and hairstyle was inspired by recent/modern-day fashion that is inspired by earlier styles, such as grunge fashion or Hollywood wave blowouts. Amelie wants a taste of what people are into today, while still holding her classy personal tastes.
Silhouettes
Phase 2 of silhouettes inspired by the same mood board above. Shape language is attempted to be pushed further here, breaking away from the similarly humanoid figures in the previous phase. I imagined more “what-if” situations, such as “what if a mermaid were tech-based and land bound?” or “what if curvy shapes were combined with rigid ones?”.
Bubbly Tech Silhouettes and mood board. Procreate, inspiration images sourced from Pinterest. January 2026.
Character silhouettes inspired by a mood board evoking mechanical, futuristic, and tech-oriented vibes. Characters were kept mainly feminine, each having protruding electronic devices. I wanted it to be implied that each figure could be quick-moving and able to float or fly. To ensure this I focused on slimmer, lightweight shapes with blocky, sharp angles, as well as devices aiding fast movement (sharp legs, wings, rocets, etc.).
Phase 2 of the previous earthy mood board. I felt the previous page clung to humanoid figures, so I worked to avoid that with this set. I placed animal-like creatures at the mercy of the possessive plants here, having them seemingly adapted to the conditions. Each still hold organic elements that have been combined with what were their previous states (horse, snake, cat, etc.). Similarly to the first mood board and silhouettes, I attempted to focus more on shaoe language here.
Possession by Plants Silhouettes and mood board. Procreate, inspiration images sourced from Pinterest. January 2026.
Silhouettes that carry an earthy, eroded, slow-moving theme. Figures are either confined to one spot or working against the binds of plants. Those who can move are carried by the vitality of the plants overtaking them. I was initally inspired by the “Hanahaki disease,” a fictional situation where flowers grow within a person. The world I imagine these figures reside is a semi-apocalytpic one, pockets of civilization becoming overrun with those affected and left abandoned. Individuals know that entering these abandoned areas runs the risk of becoming infected as well.
Sprite Sheets
Sandy cat sprite sheet, Procreate. Fall 2024.
A more in-depth sprite sheet compared to the one below, this explores a simple character in multiple stances. The sandy cat here was part of a brief concept for a cat-oriented exploration game. He would be customizable and able to interact with the world around him, collecting clues to piece together a town’s strange history. Keep a lookout for a full concept someday!
Pixel cat sprite sheet, Procreate. Fall 2024.
This grey kitten was apart of early game concepting and eventually reworked into the sandy cat above. I created a brush in Procreate for this specific project to achieve the “pixel art” look, keeping symmetry and continuity of the design throughout movements in mind.
